Every single day without exception. Their skin oil soaks into the fabric within hours, and leaving it longer than 24 hours invites a greasy residue that can cause breakouts or just smell unpleasant. I rotate between three sets so there's always a fresh one ready while the others soak in a gentle enzyme cleaner.

Changing them less than every other day is just asking for a greasy mess that’ll stick to their skin and your furniture. I’ve found that daily swaps are the only way to keep the oil buildup from turning into a crusty layer that ruins the fabric and makes the cat uncomfortable.

Twice a week works fine for mine, unless they’ve been sweating more from playing hard or the weather’s hot. Their oils build up fast but not as aggressively as some people claim - a quick toss in the wash with a mild detergent keeps things fresh without daily hassle. I just sniff-test it; if it smells like cat, it’s time.

Depends entirely on how oily your cat is and the room temperature - I swap mine every three days and it keeps the blanket fresh enough without over-washing. A good indicator is if the fabric starts feeling slightly waxy or develops a faint musty odor; that’s the signal to toss it in the laundry. I prefer cotton or bamboo blends because they breathe better and don’t trap the oils as aggressively as fleece or synthetic fibers, so the blanket stays usable longer between washes.
