I really understand why you’d ask-British Shorthairs have such a gentle, steady reputation. Yes, they’re typically very content with calm companionship; they’re not overly demanding or needy, and they thrive in a peaceful home where they can lounge nearby without constant fuss. Just being in the same room with you, quietly sharing space, is often enough for them to feel happy and secure.

From my own experience with my British Shorthair, Oliver, he’s perfectly happy just chilling next to me on the couch while I read or work. He doesn’t need constant petting or play-he’ll hop up, settle in, and purr quietly for a bit before dozing off. As long as he knows I’m nearby and we have our daily routine, he’s content.
