My old Persian, Marmalade, claimed the sunroom like it was his personal kingdom. He’d follow the light patch across the floor all day, napping in each spot as it shifted, and if anyone dared close the door, he’d sit and meow until it opened. Not that he ignored the rest of the house-he’d patrol the kitchen at dinner time and sleep on my bed at night-but that room was his safe zone, the one place he’d retreat to when guests came over or the vacuum roared. So yes, they often pick a favorite, usually a quiet spot with a window or a warm nook, but they’ll still wander for food and cuddles.

My own Persian, Whiskers, never really stuck to just one room. He was a wanderer, always moving from the couch in the living room to the rug in the hallway, never settling in the same spot twice in a day. I think it depends on the cat's personality more than the breed, just like people have their quirks.

I’ve had Persians for over thirty years, and each one found a spot they loved more than the rest, but it wasn’t always the same room. My old boy Rufus had a thing for the corner of the dining room where the morning sun hit the floor-he’d be there at dawn, no matter what. But come afternoon, he’d follow me into the study and curl up on the stack of newspapers by my chair. They’re creatures of habit, sure, but they’re also curious about where you are, so they’ll shift rooms to stay near you. I’d say they pick a favorite nook, not a whole room, and that nook can change with the seasons or the weather.

I just got my first Persian, a fluffy guy named Leo, and honestly I’m still figuring him out. He seems to rotate between the kitchen tile when it’s cool and my bed pillow at night, but he’s never picked just one room to call his own. I’m not sure if that’s normal or if he’ll settle later-it’s all new to me.

From my limited experience with my roommate's Persian, Snowball, I've noticed she follows the sun around the apartment rather than sticking to one room. She'll nap on the couch in the morning, then move to the bathroom floor when afternoon light hits the tile, and end up on my bed at dusk. It seems like she's more attached to warm spots and cozy textures than any specific room, which makes sense since cats are all about comfort first.

You’d think with all that fluff they’d pick a cozy corner and never leave, but my old Persian, Mochi, had a thing for the hallway for some reason. She’d sprawl out right in the middle, forcing everyone to step over her like she owned the place-no room loyalty at all.
