Climbing shelves in every room would be overkill, even for an active Devon Rex. One or two well-placed shelves in the main living area or a hallway gives them enough vertical space to explore without turning your home into a jungle gym. I’ve got a couple mounted by a sunny window, and that’s plenty-my cat uses them for naps and watching birds, not for running a marathon. Too many shelves just clutter up the place and confuse the cat.

A couple of climbing shelves in the busiest rooms is plenty, but every room might make the space feel chaotic for both you and your cat. I find that my Devon Rex loves having one spot near the kitchen where she can watch me cook, and another in the living room for bird-watching-forcing shelves into a bedroom or bathroom usually just ends up ignored. It's more about quality than quantity, so I'd focus on rooms where you spend the most time together.

Putting climbing shelves in every room sounds more like a home renovation project than a cat necessity. I’ve found that a Devon Rex will happily use shelves in one or two high-traffic areas where you actually spend time, like the living room or home office, but placing them in every room often leads to them being ignored or just collecting dust. Focus on a couple of strategic spots near windows or above your favorite chair instead of turning the whole house into a cat playground.
