Go with the tall tree. Devon Rex cats are active and love high perches, but they’re not the strongest jumpers due to their lighter build. A tall tree with multiple platforms and hiding spots gives them a solid vertical space to climb and survey the room, while shelves can feel too unstable or narrow for their comfort. Plus, a tree is a one-piece setup that’s sturdier and easier to anchor, whereas shelves need precise wall mounting to hold their weight during play. Your cat will use the tree daily, shelves might just gather dust.

I’ve got a soft spot for climbing shelves when it comes to a Devon Rex. These little guys are part monkey-they love to bounce and explore every nook, and shelves let you map the whole room like a jungle gym. You can zigzag them across a wall, and your cat will treat it like a personal parkour course, especially if you toss in a few toys mid-route. Tall trees are solid, but they’re kinda static-shelves keep the adventure fresh and let your cat switch up the path daily. Plus, my old buddy’s Rex used to nap on the highest shelf, looking down like a tiny king, and that’s hard to beat.

Both climbing shelves, because you can rearrange them whenever you feel like redecorating without hauling a massive tree around. I change my furniture layout every few months to keep things fresh for myself, and shelves give me that flexibility while still letting my Devon Rex leap around like a maniac. A tall tree just sits there taking up floor space-way less convenient for my vibe.
