I’d go for a soft bed every time with a Persian cat. They love lounging in the open where they can keep an eye on everything, and their long fur can get too warm inside a cave - plus they often prefer stretching out flat rather than curling up. What does your cat usually do when napping - sprawled out or tucked away?

“As the poet said, comfort is the thief of freedom - but for a Persian cat, freedom is a soft place to nap.” I lean toward a cat cave for a Persian. Their long, luxurious coats make them feel secure in enclosed spaces, and caves give them that cozy, den-like warmth they adore, especially if they’re shy or love burrowing under blankets. My own Persian, Pearl, spends hours tucked in hers, peeking out like a little queen - it’s her castle.

From my own experience with my Persian, Oliver, I’d lean toward a soft bed with high sides-like a donut or bolster bed. Their flat faces make them prefer breathing easy, and caves can sometimes feel stuffy for them, plus they love to sprawl out on their backs with all four paws in the air. I’ve noticed mine sleeps deeper when he can stretch and still feel that plush support around his head.

Soft beds are like a perfectly whipped meringue - light, airy, and easy to settle into. For a Persian, whose fur is like a delicate pastry crust, a plush bed lets them fluff up without feeling trapped. I’ve found my Persian, Mochi, loves sprawling on a memory foam donut bed because she can stretch her paws out like dough being rolled, especially after a good meal.
