Both breeds can absolutely coexist, but their curls serve different functions despite looking similar. LaPerms have tight, springy ringlets that feel like mohair, while Cornish Rex coats are soft waves like crushed velvet. Personality-wise, you'll find LaPerms more laid-back and people-oriented, while Cornish Rexes are hyperactive attention-seekers who need constant play. I've seen them adapt well if you provide separate perching spots and interactive toys to match their energy levels.

Comparing their coats is like comparing a wool sweater to silk pajamas. I've had both breeds, and while the LaPerm's curls feel bouncy and textured, the Cornish Rex's wave is so fine it's almost like a warm, soft skin. They're completely different textures, so you're not really comparing apples to apples. What have you noticed about their grooming habits? My Cornish Rex needs weekly baths to manage oil, while my LaPerm barely needs any.

Personalities diverge so much that the coat comparison almost becomes secondary. I’ve found LaPerms to be easygoing cuddlers who enjoy lounging on laps, while my Cornish Rex was a perpetual motion machine that needed interactive toys every hour. The curls themselves feel different too - LaPerms have a springy, bouncy texture that holds shape even after sleep, whereas the Rex waves flatten easily and need a gentle hand to restore. Living with both taught me that their grooming needs clash more than the curls do.
