Mine makes soft squeaky meows, then bites my ankle at 6am sharp for food. Definitely bossy.

They can do both. My Persian, Lily, lets out these tiny chirps that sound almost apologetic, but she's relentless-she'll sit on my chest and tap my face until I get up.

I've owned Persians for fifteen years, so let me set the record straight. They're masters of the tiny, polite meow - sounds like a soft "mrrp" that melts your heart. But don't be fooled, that's just their opening move. My current cat, Mochi, will do the polite meow at 5:45am, then if I don't move fast enough, she'll deliberately knock my phone off the nightstand and stare at me with zero remorse. They weaponize that cute meow.

I've definitely seen both sides of the coin with mine. My boy Jasper will let out the softest little "mew" that sounds like a question, but he's absolutely running the show. He'll sit by his bowl and give me this long, slow blink that feels polite, but if I'm five minutes late, he starts pacing and nudging my hand with his nose while I'm still half asleep. It's like he's mastered the art of gentle manipulation. Have you noticed if yours gets extra persistent when you ignore the meow?
