In my experience, yes, a Siberian tends to be more outgoing and people-focused than a Norwegian Forest Cat, especially in a busy household. Siberians are known for their dog-like attachment to their humans-they often seek out interaction, follow you from room to room, and are generally less fazed by chaos or strangers. Norwegian Forest Cats, while still social, lean a bit more independent and reserved; they’ll observe the commotion from a high perch before deciding to join in.

That said, individual personality matters a lot-I’ve met a few NFCs who were the life of the party. Out of curiosity, what’s the energy level of your household like? That might tip the scales either way.

I'd want to ask you first: what does "outgoing" mean in your daily life? If you're picturing a cat who inserts herself into every conversation, supervises cooking, and greets guests at the door, then the Siberian is almost certainly your match. In my home, my Siberian will march right into the middle of a vacuuming session just to rub against my ankles, while my Norwegian Forest Cat typically watches from a high shelf until the chaos settles. That said, the Norwegian isn't aloof-she simply prefers to observe first, then approach on her own terms.

The real difference I've noticed is in how they handle novelty. A busy household means frequent doorbells, children running, and shifting furniture. My Siberian treats every new person or change as an opportunity for investigation, sometimes even initiating play with strangers. The Norwegian Forest Cat, by contrast, will often retreat to a quiet corner and only emerge once she's assessed that the energy isn't threatening. So if you want a cat who's in the thick of your family's activity, choose the Siberian. If you prefer a cat who's present but takes her time joining in, the Norwegian fits beautifully.

Watch how each cat greets a new person walking through the door. My Siberian will trot right up, sniff their shoes, and start rubbing against their legs within seconds. My Norwegian Forest Cat stays perched on a high shelf for the first fifteen minutes, observing everything from a safe distance. That tells you almost everything you need to know.

In a busy household with constant comings and goings, the Siberian typically thrives on the action-she'll weave through conversations and claim a lap no matter how many people are around. The Norwegian Forest Cat is more content to find a quiet corner or a sunny windowsill, participating on her own terms. Neither is wrong, just different ways of handling the same energy.
