Not really, no. I’ve had both, and the difference is negligible if you’re comparing cats with the same coat length. Himalayans are essentially Persians with colorpoint genes, so their fur texture and density are identical. The maintenance is the same: daily combing to prevent mats, regular bathing to manage oils, and diligent eye cleaning. The only practical difference I’ve noticed is that the white areas on a Himalayan can show dirt and tear stains more visibly, but that’s a color issue, not a coat care issue. If you’re already maintaining one, you can handle the other.

Himalayan and Persian coats of the same length are structurally identical - there’s no real difference in maintenance difficulty. I’ve groomed both for years, and the only variable that ever matters is the individual cat’s oiliness or matting tendency, not the breed label. If you’re dealing with a fluffy white cat that gets tear stains and greasy fur, it’s going to be work no matter what you call it. The real tip I’d give: focus on a good metal comb and a detangling spray, and don’t skip the weekly baths for either. That’s where the actual effort lies, not in the paperwork.

If the coat length is truly the same, there's no meaningful difference in maintenance between a Persian and a Himalayan. Both carry the same dense, double-layered undercoat and fine topcoat that mats quickly if neglected. The real factor isn't breed but individual coat texture-some cats are oilier or have more cotton-like fur, which tangles faster. I've seen Persians with relatively low-maintenance coats and Himalayans that need daily combing. Focus on the cat in front of you, not the label.
