Yeah, I’ve seen that mix-up happen. The round cheeks and big eyes are similar, but the Scottish Fold’s folded ears are the dead giveaway. An Exotic Shorthair has normal, upright ears, so once you spot that, it’s obvious.

Yeah, it's a super common mistake. The round face and big eyes are almost identical, especially from certain angles. The biggest tell is the ears - Scottish Folds have those distinct folded tips, while Exotics have normal, upright ears. Also, Exotic Shorthairs tend to have a more pushed-in nose and a stockier, cobbier body, while the Scottish Fold's body is more rounded and compact but not as heavy-set.

Only if you're not looking closely at the nose and coat. The Scottish Fold has a more moderate, rounded profile with a distinct stop, while the Exotic Shorthair's face is flatter and more brachycephalic, like a Persian. Also, the Fold's coat is plush but not as dense and teddy-bear-like as the Exotic's. I'd say the ear shape is the fastest way to tell them apart, but the overall head structure is actually pretty different once you train your eye.
