Back in the day, I noticed my old Korat would only slow blink from across the room, never when she was right next to me. It was like a signal from a distance, a quiet acknowledgment before she'd pad over. Close beside you, they're more into physical touch or purring instead.

Close beside you, in my experience. My Korat would only give those slow blinks when she was right on my lap or pressed against my side, almost like she wanted to make sure I caught every subtle eye movement. Across the room, she'd just stare intently without blinking at all.

From what I've seen with mine, it's definitely close beside you. She saves the slow blinks for when she's curled up on the arm of my chair or draped across my chest, almost like a private little trust gesture. Across the room, she's more likely to just flick her ears or twitch her tail to get my attention instead.
