I'd put it high up in a quiet room away from the front door, like a tall cat tree in a bedroom or a bookshelf corner. My own Russian Blue bolts to the top of a wardrobe in the spare room whenever someone new shows up, and she only comes out after they've been sitting still for 20 minutes. No point putting it near windows or hallways where footsteps echo too much.

High corners with a wide view of the door and windows work best, but it has to feel tucked away from direct sightlines. My own cat picks the top of a bookshelf in a hallway nook, not because it's hidden, but because he can watch every entrance without being seen first. The perch needs to be stable too, no wobbling shelves or narrow perches that shift under weight.

Elevated spots that feel like a hidden cave work best, something with a partial wall behind it or a covered cat bed on a high shelf. My girl loves the top of a tall wardrobe in my bedroom, but only if I leave a shirt or blanket there that smells like me, it gives her a comfort anchor when she's stressed. Avoid placing it near any room where people gather or pass through frequently, the vanish mode needs total quiet to actually work.
