A wide, shallow bowl with a gentle slope works best. Flat dishes let them scoop food without smashing their face into the sides. I use a ceramic one with a raised lip-it catches the wet food before it drips down their chin. Avoid deep bowls; they just push the mess upward.

A raised, angled bowl-around 15 degrees tilt-makes a real difference. Flat dishes force a Persian to lower their head and scoop food, but a tilted setup lets gravity help the kibble or wet food slide toward the front, so they don’t have to dive in nose-first. I’ve had good luck with a stainless steel slant bowl that has a non-skid base; the whisker-friendly rim also reduces contact, which cuts down on food clinging to their chin. Pair it with a bib-style placemat that catches drips, and you’ll save yourself a lot of wiping.

Try a narrow, deep bowl with high sides. Their short snout can’t reach the bottom, so they lift food straight up rather than dragging it through their chin fluff. I’ve used a small ramekin for wet food-works like a mini funnel, not a splash zone.

I’ve had the best luck using a small, shallow saucer with a low lip-think the kind you’d put under a teacup. Persians with flat faces can’t reach into deep bowls without dunking their whole chin, but a saucer lets them lap up wet food cleanly because their whiskers and fur stay above the rim. Just make sure it’s non-slip; I put a silicone mat underneath to stop it from sliding around.
