Both are definitely professional-grade Velcro cats, but they cling in different ways. A Sphynx doesn't just want to be on you-it needs your body heat. You'll find one burrowed under your shirt, wrapped around your neck like a living scarf, or pressed flat against your chest under the blanket. That's pure thermal motivation.

A Devon Rex is equally attached but more likely to perch on your shoulder or sit on your keyboard while you're working. They're lighter and more acrobatic, so they'll climb up and stay there for attention rather than warmth. If you're comparing which one physically clings tighter and longer, the Sphynx wins-but only because it gets cold faster.

I’ve lived with both, and I’d say the Sphynx wins in sheer persistence. A Devon Rex will curl up on your lap and purr, but a Sphynx treats you like a heated cat bed-it’s not just affection, it’s survival. My Sphynx once climbed into my hoodie pocket while I was standing at the stove, and stayed there for twenty minutes, head poking out like a marsupial. The Devon Rex, meanwhile, is more of a shoulder-sitter who’ll jump down the second you move.

The word "cling" means something different for each breed, in my experience. A Sphynx clings for warmth-it’s a survival instinct wrapped in affection. I’ve had one follow me into the bathroom just to drape herself over my bare feet while I sat on the toilet. That’s not a lap cat; that’s a furry (or hairless) heating pad that refuses to leave.

A Devon Rex clings for attention and novelty. They’re more like curious shadows-they’ll sit on your book while you read, nudge your phone out of your hand, or perch on the back of your chair just to be eye-level. If a Sphynx is a barnacle, the Devon Rex is a friendly stalker. Both are Velcro cats, but the Sphynx’s need is more physical, while the Devon’s is more social.

A Sphynx will win in a cling-off, but only because it has no choice. Without fur, every surface feels cold to them, so they’ll plaster themselves to your skin like a living hot water bottle. I’ve had mine tuck her whole face into my armpit while I was trying to read-not for cuddles, just for warmth.

A Devon Rex, though, is clingy in a more playful way. They’ll follow you from room to room, leap onto your shoulder while you’re brushing your teeth, and then hop off two seconds later because something shinier caught their eye. The Sphynx stays put until you physically peel her off.
