From what I've seen, they can entertain themselves decently enough with the right toys, but don't expect a miracle. Mine will bat a mouse toy around for a bit, then get bored and come pester me for attention. They're not like some breeds that'll play for hours solo - they'd rather have you involved, even if it's just half-hearted tossing.

Honestly, yeah, they can be pretty decent at it if you set them up right. A good cat tree by a window or one of those puzzle feeders with kibble inside will keep them busy for a while without you lifting a finger.

I’d need to clarify what you mean by “good at playing alone” - do you mean for long stretches, or just occasionally keeping themselves busy? In my experience, they can handle solo play pretty well with the right setup, like a dangling toy on a stand or a laser pointer that leaves a moving dot, but they’re not self-entertaining machines. Mine will chase a crinkle ball for a bit, then wander off to nap, so it’s more about short bursts than sustained independent fun.
