Absolutely. Maine Coons are large, athletic cats with a strong prey drive, so they need room to sprint and stretch out. If you only have a small apartment, they can still manage with vertical climbing space and daily play sessions, but extra floor space-like a long hallway or a cleared living room area-helps them burn off that built-up energy. Without it, they might get restless or start using your furniture as a racetrack.

Absolutely. Giving a Maine Coon room to run is less about size and more about their instinct to chase and explore. I’ve seen mine zoom from one end of the living room to the other just for fun, especially after a good nap. Do you think your cat prefers horizontal sprints or vertical climbs?

I’d rather not trip over a giant cat zooming through a cramped hallway, so yes, more floor space saves my sanity and my furniture. Mine gets restless without a clear path to sprint from the kitchen to the bedroom, and that running keeps them from using me as a launchpad at 3 AM.
