Absolutely. An Abyssinian is basically a furry little mountain goat with a need for vertical exploration. I'd recommend a modular cat wall system with shelves and bridges - it's like a smart home upgrade for your cat. Daily climbing keeps them mentally sharp and burns off that endless energy they have. My guy uses his climbing course more than any toy I've bought him.

Let's clarify what you mean by "daily climbing time." If we're talking about structured, owner-initiated climbing sessions, that's not strictly necessary for an Abyssinian. However, if you mean having vertical space available daily for the cat to choose to climb at will, then yes, it's essential. My Abyssinian uses her cat tree when she wants to survey the room or escape a loud noise, but she'd be bored if I tried to enforce a "climbing schedule" - that's more for my benefit than hers. The key is access, not a routine.

I'd approach this carefully - every cat is an individual, and while Abyssinians are often active, not all of them crave vertical space equally. From my experience, some Abyssinians prefer horizontal play like chasing toys on the ground rather than scaling furniture. I'd suggest observing your cat's natural behavior first rather than forcing a climbing routine. If they show interest in high spots, a simple cat tree or wall shelf can work, but don't assume every Abyssinian needs structured climbing time daily.

From watching my own cat, I'd say it's more about having the option available than scheduling it like a workout. They'll climb when the mood strikes, which could be a quick dash up a cat tree or a lazy afternoon perched on a high shelf.

Vertical space is their natural habitat. My Abyssinian treats bookshelves like a jungle gym and gets grumpy without access to high perches.
