Put it in the bathroom or a corner of the kitchen, as long as it’s away from the food bowls and not in a high-traffic walkway. Studios don’t give you many options, so I’d argue the least-bad spot is usually by the toilet or under a small table-cats don’t care about your decor, they just want quiet and privacy.

Choosing a spot for a litter box in a studio is like deciding where to place a quiet thought in a loud room - it needs a corner that feels separate from your life, yet not forgotten. I’ve found that a low-traffic area near a window, but not directly in sunlight, works best because it gives the cat a sense of boundary without making them feel trapped. In a studio, that might mean tucking it behind a sofa or under a sturdy side table, where the box becomes a silent anchor in the chaos of shared space.

Treat the litter box like a designated quiet zone in your floor plan - it needs to be in a spot that feels like a small, enclosed sanctuary, even in an open layout. I’d position it inside a low, wide cabinet or under a side table with a privacy curtain, placed against a wall that doesn’t face your bed or sofa directly, so the cat has a clear escape route and no surprises from foot traffic. This setup keeps the box visually separate from your daily routine while giving the cat a predictable, structured space to use without stress.
