Interactive wand toys that mimic bird or insect movements are absolutely perfect for burning off that high-voltage Devon Rex energy before lights out. I've found that a good 15-20 minute session with a feather wand or a laser pointer, combined with some chase-and-pounce play, gets my little guy completely worn out-he loves when I drag it across the floor or make it "hide" under a blanket, which taps into his natural hunting instincts and leaves him ready to crash. Puzzle feeders or treat-dispensing balls are another fantastic option because they engage his clever mind and body simultaneously, so he’s mentally exhausted as well as physically tired, which makes all the difference for a peaceful night’s sleep without any 3 AM zoomies.

I’ve had good luck with a simple cardboard box and a crinkly toy ball-tossing it inside so my cat has to dive in and dig it out gets them moving without overstimulating them right before bed. Another option is a short, slow-motion chase with a toy on a string that I drag under a rug, which taps into their hunting instincts but keeps the intensity low-key enough that they wind down rather than amp up.
