"Absence makes the heart grow fonder" - but not if there's nothing to do. A Devon Rex can manage a few hours alone if you set the stage right. I've learned with my own that they're social butterflies, not loners, so a couple of hours is fine as long as there's a window perch, a puzzle toy with treats, or a cozy blanket they can burrow into. Just don't push it past half a day regularly - they'll get restless and start redecorating your curtains.

Only if they've got something in it for them. I leave mine with a couple of interactive toys and a high perch by the window, and she's fine for a few hours because she's entertained and not bugging me.

They'll be perfectly fine for a few hours if you've worn them out beforehand with a solid play session. My own gets a good 20 minutes of fetch and chase right before I head out, and then she's content to nap or stare out the window until I get back. The key is making sure they're mentally and physically tired so they don't spend the time searching for trouble.

Yeah, they can handle a few hours solo, but don’t kid yourself - these cats are social climbers, not hermits. Mine gets antsy after three unless I leave a heated bed and a bird feeder view to keep her busy. It’s all about distraction: a good scratching post and a window spot, and she’s fine till I’m back. Push it to five hours regularly, and you’ll come home to some serious side-eye.
