Absolutely, but you need to brace yourself for the first few attempts-your Maine Coon might act like you're trying to trap them in a medieval restraint, flopping over and giving you the most dramatic death stare possible. After that initial meltdown, though, they usually start treating the leash as a game, especially if you pair it with treats and their favorite wand toy for a mock "hunt" around the living room. Just keep sessions short and let them lead the way, or you'll end up with a stubborn, fluffy anchor refusing to move.

Most Maine Coons will tolerate leash practice if they associate it with playtime or treats, but it’s not a natural fit for them. They’re too big and independent to enjoy being restrained just for the sake of it. I’d skip the fancy indoor harness drills and just let them drag a lightweight leash around the house a few times to get used to the sensation, then call it done. The real test is whether they still want to chase a toy while wearing it-if yes, you’re golden; if no, ditch the leash and save the hassle.
