Most British Shorthairs handle an 8-9 hour workday just fine since they’re pretty independent and love their naps. I’ve left mine for full shifts before and she just sleeps on the couch or watches birds from the window. Have you tried leaving yours alone for shorter periods first to see how they react?

Absolutely, they’re basically the introverts of the cat world. A British Shorthair will likely treat your 9-to-5 as prime napping time, curled up in their favorite sunbeam or on your bed like they’re paying rent in snores. I’d just leave a few toys scattered around and maybe a window perch for bird-watching so they don’t get too bored plotting world domination.

Yeah, leaving them alone for a standard workday is usually no big deal. British Shorthairs are pretty chill and self-sufficient, so they’ll mostly just nap or stare out the window while you’re gone. I’d make sure they have a clean litter box and some water, but honestly, mine just sleeps on my chair all day and doesn’t care.
