Your cat’s brain maps the house like a territory, not just a backdrop. Persian cats especially thrive on predictable landmarks because their long fur limits peripheral vision, so furniture shifts create invisible obstacles. Try moving one piece an inch a day for a week, then reward with a treat on the new spot. This turns the change into a game rather than an invasion.

Back in my day, cats had to adapt or go hungry, but Persians are a different breed altogether. They're creatures of habit, plain and simple - a sudden move of the couch throws off their whole sense of security and routine. I've seen my own Persian pace and sniff for days after I shifted a chair, like the house lost its familiar scent trails.
