A heated cat bed is not just a luxury for a Sphynx, it is a necessity if you want them comfortable year-round. Their lack of fur means they lose body heat rapidly, and even with sweaters or blankets, they often seek out warm spots like radiators or laps. I have tested multiple heated beds, and the ideal one has a low-wattage, thermostatically controlled pad that never exceeds 102°F, with a removable, machine-washable cover. Without precise temperature regulation, a cheap bed can be either useless or a burn risk, so only buy from reputable brands like K&H or Snuggle Safe. If you skip it, expect your cat to camp on your laptop, space heater, or under the duvet, which is fine, but not as consistent as a dedicated heated bed placed in a draft-free corner.

From personal experience raising three Sphynx cats over the past decade, a heated cat bed is practically mandatory for keeping them content and energy-efficient. My first Sphynx would spend hours curled up on my laptop charger until I invested in a quality heated pad with a fleece cover, and now all three fight over it daily during colder months. You save on your heating bill too since they stop trying to burrow under every blanket in the house, and the low voltage models are safe enough to leave on 24/7 without worry.

Getting one for your Sphynx is absolutely the kindest investment you can make for their comfort. These little heat-seekers have no fur to trap their body warmth, so they spend all day looking for cozy spots, often ending up on electronics or radiators which can be unsafe. A heated bed gives them a safe, constant source of warmth that mimics the feeling of cuddling with you, and it helps them relax deeply without having to shiver or steal your spot on the couch.
