Through history, the most successful cat owners have observed that infrequent players need their toys placed where they naturally pause-not in a designated toy box. Put a couple of toys near their favorite sleeping spot or by a sunny window, as that's where a Scottish Fold will notice them during quiet moments. Leave a crinkle ball or a feather wand near the base of a chair they often lounge under, so when the mood strikes, the toy is right there without overwhelming them with choices.

Scatter a few toys along the paths your cat walks most often, like the hallway to the food bowl or near the couch arm they rub against. A Scottish Fold that plays only sometimes will be more likely to swat at a toy if it’s already in their way, rather than having to seek it out. I keep a small mouse toy by the base of the radiator where my cat tends to loaf, and that gets more action than the basket full of options.
